Curling Canada announces winners of 2026 Curling Day in Canada contests

0 2

Each year, Curling Day in Canada acknowledges the nationwide appreciation for the game of curling and the sense of community that comes with it.

This year, Curling Day in Canada was recognized on Jan. 31 across the country. The #CurlingDayInCanada hashtag generated over 2.9 million social media impressions and raised just over $5,000 through merchandise sales, with all proceeds supporting youth curling programs across Canada.

Between contests and celebrations, Canadians from coast-to-coast shared their stories about what curling means to them, some of which were told onTSN’s Curling Day in Canada special broadcast

Broadcast during the opening weekend of the 2026 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Mississauga, Ont., TSN highlighted the community behind the Huntsville Curling Club and guided viewers through various Curling Day in Canada celebrations and history. The broadcast averaged 167,000 viewers and reached a total audience of 681,000 nationwide.

Over 100 curling stories were submitted to Curling Canada’s Curling Story Contest, and after a careful selection process and voting round, Curling Canada is pleased to announce Rebecca Jahoor’s “Calling Shots in a Different Language” as the 2026 winner.

Rebecca’s story reflects the heart of the curling community that helped her get out of her shell after moving to Quebec for school. Without much confidence in her French, Rebecca shares that she kept to herself for her first year. After discovering the Club de Curling Jacques-Cartier in Quebec City, Rebecca picked back up her love of the game and found a community she really loves. Rebecca’s winning story earned her an all-expenses-paid closing weekend trip for four people to the 2027 Montana’s Brier in Saskatoon.

But Rebecca wasn’t the only winner this year, as Curling Day in Canada also features Canada’s Big Shootout, a chance for participating clubs to win a $5,000 curling facility grant by covering the pin more than any other club in this recorded and timed event.

Curling Canada is delighted to announce the Victoria Curling Club as the 2026 Big Shootout Champion for the second year in a row with 10 pinned draws!

Mark your calendars for next year’s Curling Day in Canada celebration on Feb. 20, 2027!
