The Dawson Creek Curling Club is seeking a Head Ice Technician for the 2026–2027 curling season.
Our club operates an eight-sheet curling facility in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, hosting multiple weekly leagues, regional bonspiels, youth programs, rentals, and community events throughout the season.
The Head Ice Technician is responsible for the installation, preparation, and maintenance of curling ice surfaces to ensure safe, consistent, and high-quality playing conditions throughout the season.
Position Type: Seasonal (September – April) This role may be structured as either: • Seasonal Hourly Employee (Fixed-Term) • Independent Contractor Agreement
The position will begin with ice installation in late August / early September 2026, with the season running through approximately April 2027.
The club is open to flexible role structures depending on applicants, including a Head Ice Technician supported by an assistant or multiple technicians sharing responsibilities.
Compensation: $30,000 – $45,000 per season Approximately 900–1,000 hours per season Equivalent to approximately $30 – $47 per hour depending on experience. (24-30 hours a week average; outside of bonspiel or event weekends)
Experience as a curling ice technician is considered an asset but is not required for the right candidate. Applicants with mechanical, facilities, or maintenance backgrounds interested in learning ice making are encouraged to apply.
Training opportunities may include Curling Canada Ice Technician courses, which may involve travel to nearby communities.
