0 3

Semifinals set for Saturday morning, finals in afternoon at Caledonian Curling Club

Carleton leads the way on the men’s side and Memorial finished first in the women’s standings as the round robin portion of the 2026 U SPORTS/CCAA Curling Championships hosted by the University of Regina wrapped up on Friday at the Caledonian Curling Club in Regina.

The women’s semifinals will feature Memorial taking on host Regina and Alberta squaring off against McMaster. Memorial and Alberta both finished with 5-2 records with the Seahawks taking top spot thanks to their Tuesday win over the Pandas. McMaster dropped both of their Friday games by 6-5 scores to New Brunswick and Alberta, but the Marauders finished third in the standings thanks to their four wins over the first three days of competition.

The host Cougars faced a de facto playoff situation on Friday afternoon against New Brunswick. Both teams headed in with 3-3 records knowing they’d need a win to extend their weekend, and the Cougars pulled out a 7-3 victory to lock up their spot in the Saturday morning semifinals.

Over on the men’s side, Carleton’s winning streak finally came to an end after a 6-3 setback to Wilfrid Laurier in the final draw of the round robin, but the Ravens still finish in sole possession of first place with a 6-1 record. Calgary recorded convincing 11-6 and 11-2 victories over Alberta and York, respectively, to lock up second place with a 5-2 mark.

The men’s standings then featured a three-way tie at 4-3 between Alberta, Memorial, and Wilfrid Laurier. Memorial earned third place thanks to victories over both of the other tied teams, while Alberta’s win over Laurier put the Golden Bears in fourth place. Laurier finished in fifth place, and out of the playoff picture, despite being the only team so far to defeat Carleton.

The men’s semifinals will feature Carleton against Alberta with Calgary set to square off against Memorial. Saturday’s semifinals are set to start at 9:00 AM while the finals will begin at 1:00 PM at the Callie.
