2026 Mixed Doubles Provincials

Eight of the top mixed doubles teams in Saskatchewan made their way to Nipawin from February 5–8, 2026, all chasing one goal – the title of 2026 Saskatchewan Mixed Doubles Provincial Champions.

The 8 Teams Competing at the 2026 Mixed Doubles Provincials are as follows:

Fradette/Jones: Heidi Fradette, Ethan Jones, coach Chad Jones (Martensville Curling Club)
Just/Cherpin: Sherry Just, Kyle Cherpin (Prince Albert Curling Centre)
Lamontagne/Lamontagne: Shelby Lamontagne, Grady Lamontagne (Moose Jaw Curling Centre)
Lang/Lang: Jessica Lang, Matthew Lang, coach Susan Lang (Langenberg Curling Club)
Martin/Laycock: Nancy Martin, Steve Laycock (Nutana Curling Club) |
Remeshylo/Derksen: Melissa Remeshylo, Dylan Derksen, coach Scott Remeshylo (Martensville Curling Club)
Springer/Springer: Jull Springer, Garret Springer (Highland Curling Club)
Taylor/Gervais: Savanna Taylor, Brecklin Gervais (Kronau Curling Club)

Hosted by the Nipawin Evergreen Curling Club, the four-day championship featured a full round robin format, giving every team the opportunity to test themselves against the province’s best. With fast ice, strong shot-making, and plenty of close games, the round robin set the stage for an exciting Page playoff finish.

After round robin play concluded, the standings were as follows:

Team Record
Remeshylo/Derksen 6-1
Martin/Laycock 6-1
Lamontagne/Lamontagne 5-2
Lang/Lang 3-4
Taylor/Gervais 3-4
Springer/Springer 3-4
Just/Cherpin 2-5
Fradette/Jones 0-7

The top four teams advanced to the Page playoff system, where familiar matchups and high-pressure moments defined the weekend.

In the 1–2 Page playoff, Team Martin/Laycock faced Team Remeshylo/Derksen for the second time in the event. Remeshylo/Derksen continued their strong play, earning the win and securing a direct bye to the provincial final.

The 3–4 Page playoff saw defending champions Team Lang/Lang take on Team Lamontagne. Lamontagne came out on top, eliminating the reigning champions and advancing to the semifinal.

Sunday morning’s semifinal featured Team Lamontagne against Team Martin/Laycock. With a spot in the championship final on the line, Martin and Laycock delivered when it mattered most, earning the victory and setting up a third showdown with Remeshylo/Derksen.

The championship final proved to be everything a provincial final should be. The two teams went back and forth in a tightly contested game, trading scoring chances and applying pressure throughout. After falling short in their first two meetings, third time was the charm for Team Martin/Laycock. The final was decided in an extra end, where Martin and Laycock capitalized to secure a 9–6 victory and claim the provincial title.

Congratulations to Steve Laycock and Nancy Martin, your 2026 Saskatchewan Mixed Doubles Provincial Champions. With the win, they will represent Team Saskatchewan at the 2026 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, taking place March 21–27, 2026 at the Cloverdale Curling Club in Surrey, B.C.

Congratulations Nancy and Steve – Saskatchewan is cheering you on!

CURLSASK would also like to thank the Nipawin Evergreen Curling Club for hosting an outstanding event and providing a great championship experience for athletes and fans alike.
