ABOUT THE CLUB
The Burlington Curling Club (BCC) is one of the most successful and financially stable curling clubs in Canada. We pride ourselves on a hardworking and dedicated staff, fun and appreciative members, a progressive Board of Directors and an unmatched working environment. BCC is fully committed to providing a positive, inclusive work environment, with the highest safety standards.
The club operates from the last week of September to mid-April and serves approximately 750 members across five sheets of ice. With up to 42 draws scheduled each week, the club maintains a dynamic and fast-paced environment, typically hosting six draws per day.

ABOUT THE POSITION
BCC is seeking a permanent full-time General Manager. The General Manager oversees all operations at the Burlington Curling Club and is responsible for delivering an exceptional experience for members. This role includes managing staff, coordinating events, maintaining club facilities, and overseeing food and beverage services. The General Manager ensures that all operations align with the club’s standards and budget while prioritizing member health and safety and the club’s overall financial sustainability. This position is currently filled on an interim basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Management
• Hire, train, schedule, and supervise all hospitality staff, including servers, bartenders, banquet staff, and kitchen personnel
• Hire and train office staff
• Optimize staff scheduling based on event volume and member usage
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development
• Ensure all staff are trained in safety procedures, defibrillator use, and appropriate response to ice-related injuries

Event Management
• Coordinate and execute club events, including bonspiels, private parties, corporate functions, and social gatherings
• Manage event logistics such as catering menus, room setup, entertainment, and guest lists
• Collaborate with kitchen, maintenance, club sections, bonspiel committees, and other groups to ensure seamless event execution
• Promote the club lounge to members and external organizations for social and business events

Food & Beverage Operations
• Oversee the quality, consistency, and service standards of food and beverage operations
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels and manage ordering
• Monitor food and beverage costs to support profitability
• Develop and implement beverage and catering menus based on member preferences and seasonal trends
• Maintain and update the POS and inventory management systems

Member Relations
• Actively engage with members and address concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner
• Collect and evaluate member feedback to improve services and overall club experience
• Implement member engagement and loyalty initiatives
• Support membership growth and retention, including renewals, Learn to Curl programs, and external marketing
• Provide information and support to new curlers
• Maintain member communications, including newsletters, schedules, website updates, and sponsorship messaging

Financial Management
• Monitor and manage the hospitality budget to ensure cost-effective operations
• Collaborate with staff and the Board of Directors on annual budgets and improvement opportunities
• Analyze financial reports to identify trends and areas for optimization
• Prepare budget forecasts and track expenditures
• Maintain and update sponsorship, financial, and promotional obligations

Facility Management
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of all hospitality areas, including the lounge, bar, kitchen, bathrooms, change rooms, and boardroom
• Oversee routine maintenance and repairs of hospitality equipment and facilities
• In conjunction with the Head Ice Technician, oversee maintenance of the ice equipment and facilities

• Excellent customer service skills with a strong focus on member satisfaction
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience in event planning and execution
• Knowledge of food and beverage operations and service standards
• SMART Serve certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control

Compensation
BCC offers a competitive annual salary in the range of $65,000-$85,000, based on experience and qualifications.
