About the Club
Westridge Curling Club is a brand-new facility in Stony Plain, Alberta, designed to be a vibrant hub for sport, community, and connection. As we prepare to open our doors, we’re seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial General Manager / Promotions Manager to lead operations, drive growth, and shape the club’s culture from the ground up.

The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to build a curling club from scratch. As the inaugural General Manager, you’ll be the face of the club—responsible for operations, programming, marketing, and community engagement. You’ll work closely with the Board of Directors and a small team to deliver an exceptional member experience and position the club as a premier destination for curling and events.

Key Responsibilities
1. Club Operations & Administration
• Provide leadership and oversight for daily club operations, including league and event registration, internal and external communications, and member services.
• Source, evaluate, and procure necessary equipment and supplies, such as ice maintenance tools, office materials, and other operational needs.
• Assist the Board of Directors and volunteer teams with administrative functions and strategic planning initiatives.
• Continuously monitor and assess club programs to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives
2. Programming & Member Engagement
• Develop and lead inclusive programs such as Junior Curling, Learn to Curl, and recreational leagues.
• Organize skill clinics, theme nights, and community events.
• Launch a New Member Welcome Program and year-round communications strategy.
3. Marketing & Promotions
• Create and execute marketing campaigns to grow membership and event bookings.
• Manage digital platforms including the website, newsletters, and social media.
• Use storytelling and content creation to build a strong brand presence.
4. Revenue Development
• Identify and implement new revenue streams, including partnerships and facility rentals.
• Develop pricing strategies and track key performance metrics.
• Promote the club as a venue for corporate events, banquets, and community functions.
5. Community & Professional Development
• Build partnerships with local schools, businesses, and organizations.
• Represent the club at industry events and pursue relevant training opportunities.

Who You Are
• A proactive leader with experience in marketing, sales, and event management—ideally in recreation or hospitality.
• Passionate about community sport and delivering inclusive, high-quality experiences.
• Skilled in budgeting, volunteer coordination, and digital communications.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable with booking and registration systems.
• Curling experience is a strong asset
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in curling program delivery or club operations.
• ACP designation or willingness to obtain.
• NCCP Competition Coach Certification (preferred).
• Strong organizational and relationship-building skills.
