New Employment Opportunity for Seasonal work as Assistant Ice Technician – Part Time (20-25hrs per week) from September 2025 to April 2026.
The West Northumberland Curling Club (WNCC) has a long history in Cobourg. WNCC is proud to offer a safe and fun curling experience for all and is looking for an Assistant Ice Technician to help continue its reputation as a great place to curl.
Scope of Work: Reporting to the Head Ice Technician, the incumbent will: • Assist with the installation and removal of ice • Be involved in daily ice maintenance including hack removal, pebble, nip and mop the ice, etc. • Help with twice yearly flood maintenance (may involve weekend) • Clean and put away ice equipment after each use • Perform minor housekeeping duties and restock club supplies • Assist other WNCC staff with tasks as needed • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Head Ice Technician or designated Board Member
Qualifications: Previous experience would be beneficial, however, the WNCC will train the incumbent in the required ice and facility duties. The incumbent should have the following: • High school diploma or equivalent required • Dependable and hard working • Takes initiative • Works as a cohesive team member • Strong work ethic • Willingness to learn • A passion for people and service excellence • Establish and maintain positive working relationship with club members and guests
Hours of Work: The scheduled hours per week will vary with flexibility required to work on weekdays and evenings, weekends and some holidays during the curling season (September to April).
Compensation: Hourly rate range $19 – $24. Compensation will be negotiated based on qualifications and experience
