2025 Biktrix Senior Provincials Recap

On March 27-30, 2025, 5 womens teams and 11 womens teams hit the ice at the Weyburn Curling Club with hopes of representing Saskatchewan at the 2025 Canadian Senior Curling Championships at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club on Nov. 29-Dec. 6 2025.

Womens Teams:

  • Team Holland – Skip: Amber Holland, Third: Jill Shumay, Second: Sherri Singler, Lead: Trenna Derdall, Curling Club: Sutherland Curling Club
  • Team Foster – Skip: Diane Foster, Third: Candace Newkirk, Second: Danette Tracey, Curling Club: Foam Lake CC / Weyburn CC / Moose Jaw CC
  • Team McCusker – Skip: Joan McCusker, Third: Pat Kuspira, Second: Bev Fuches, Lead: Kristina Just, Curling Club: Yorkton (3) / Regina Highland (Joan)

  • Team Sunderland – Skip: Murray Sunderland, Third: Brent Franko, Second: Verne Anderson, Lead: Dwight Pomedli, Curling Club: St Front and Wadena

The women’s event was a round-robin format with the top 3 teams making playoffs. After the round-robin, Team Holland was at the top of the pool with a 3-1 record, Team Foster was in second also with a 3-1 record, and Team Martin was in third with a 2-2 record. In the playoff round, Team Foster faced off against Team Martin in the semi-final where Team Foster picked up the 8-3 win and would advance to the final against Team Holland. In the final, Team Holland defeated Team Foster 8-5 to claim the title of the 2025 Biktrix Senior Women’s Provincial Curling Champions!

Congratulations to Team Holland! Skip Amber Holland, third Jill Shumay, second Sherri Singler, and lead Trenna Dersall from the Sutherland Curling Club.


The men’s event was a triple knockout with one qualifier from the A-event, one qualifier from the B-event, and 2 qualifiers from the C-event. Team Korte beat Team Hartung 7-6 in the A-event, Team Hartung defeated Team Bryden 6-2 in the B-event, and in the C-Event, Team Joyce defeated Team Nikolejsin 6-2 to qualify, and Team Bryden defeated Team Sunderland 8-6.

In the playoffs, Team Korte defeated Team Hartung in the 1vs2 game, and Team Bryden defeated Team Joyce in the 3vs4 game. In the Semi-final. Team Hartung defeated last years champions Team Bryden 8-5. The final was a rematch with Team Hartung taking on Team Korte and it was Team Korte who picked up the 7-4 final and the title of 2025 Biktrix Senior Mens Provincial Champions.

Congratulations to Team Korte! Skip Bruce Korte, third Darrell McKee, second Kory Kohuch, and lead Rory Golanowski from the Nutana Curling Club.

Both teams will go on to represent Saskatchewan at the 2025 Canadian Senior Curling Championships at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club on Nov. 29-Dec. 6 2025.
