Let's get our curlers to the World Championships!
| Team NZ at the 2022 Pan Continentals - bring on the Worlds! |
We need your help!
For the first time in our history, the New Zealand Women's team has qualified to compete at the World Championships, and our Men qualified for the first time in 11 years!
This qualification is a massive achievement, representing the workload both teams have put into a sport they are all incredibly passionate about, and which they live and breathe each day.
They will compete against the World's top twelve curling teams, many of whom are full-time athletes with sponsorship deals.
Although curling is still a minority sport in New Zealand, it is the second largest sport in Canada (host of the World Men's Curling Championship), with viewing audiences reaching over 1 million in the past. This is your chance to associate you and/or your business with curling and get in on the ground floor.
New Zealand is already punching well above its weight in this Olympic sport, with players' and volunteers' dedication significant! Even at this International level, these athletes and coaches must raise substantial funds to participate in the World Curling Championship (airfares, uniforms, and taking unpaid leave from work).
They are actively fundraising in their communities, and only traveled to Canada in October 2022 for the Pan Continental Championships, the qualification event. All self-funded! Not only are these athletes and coaches competing at this international level, but many still find time to give back to the sport of Curling in various ways through their involvement in curling clubs, coaching, or to NZCA.
We seek your financial donation, individual or business, to support these nine athletes and two coaches to compete to the best of their ability, alleviate the financial burden, and allow them time to focus on training. Your generous donation will go towards the team's travel costs for the World Curling Championships – NZ Women to Sweden in March, and NZ Men to Canada in April.
