Dustin Mikush Appointed as New Development Coordinator

Ashley Howard, Executive Director of CURLSASK is delighted to announce Dustin Mikush, our present Social Media Coordinator, will be taking on a new role with CURLSASK, as Development Coordinator. Dustin will assume the position effective July 5, 2021.

This newly created position will benefit CURLSASK, Youth Curlers and Member Clubs across the province. Dustin will be tasked with overseeing all Youth Programs CURLSASK offers and determining the best delivery method to ensure a Provincial reach of the programs. His mandate is to ensure all aspects of CURLSASK’s youth programming; Blizzard Program, school clinics, U9, U12, U15, andU18 is fun and engaging while providing development opportunities for both recreational curlers and aspiring competitive players.

Dustin is a NCCP Certified Competition Coach, Learning Facilitator, Coach Evaluator, and has countless experiences instructing youth curlers. Over the next year, Dustin will also be completing the training to become a Competition Development Coach.As a competitor, Dustin has competed at a high level, having played at the Canadian Juniors and Men’s Provincials, along with capturing the U18 International Championships, and a U18 Canadian Silver Medal.

Furthermore, Dustin will build leadership capacity in our sport by coordinating and providing training and education opportunities for coaches, ice technicians, officials, staff, and volunteers.“As a recent Bachelor of Education graduate, I am looking forward to applying my love for teaching and passion for curling to grow the sport in Saskatchewan”, said Dustin. “Now, more than ever, the role of sport can have a positive impact in youths’ lives. With this new opportunity, a further outreach to Saskatchewan youth through CURLSASK programming will help to ensure our provincial sport is healthy for years to come.”

CURLSASK Executive Director, Ashley Howard said: “With a new season on the horizon, we are excited to launch a critical new position to help support our member clubs post-pandemic with CURLSASK programming opportunities. Dustin’s educational background and passion for curling make him the perfect person to lead the future of curling in our province.”
