JUNIOR 4NCL (Nations Chess League) Round 3 report
JUNIOR 4NCL (Nations Chess League)
Thurs 16th Feb 23 – 6:00pm
Season 7 – Round 3
Division Three – Group B
A joint venture between Castlehill Chess Club Dundee and Dundee Chess Club.
RESULT
Dundee City Juniors (1047) 3 – 5 (1415) Chess Rising Stars 1
Well unfortunately due to a mix up in communications, Dundee City Juniors had to play with only 3 players this time. It’s just one of those things that happen from time to time, but hopefully not to often!
Once again Dundee City Juniors found themselves out graded team wise and out graded on two of the three boards, with Rishi on board one the highest rated player!
I have to say this match was full of surprises and exciting games! Both Josh and Noah Dickson managed to share the points with their much higher graded opponents! Well played the both of you!
The other surprise was Rishi losing his first match? But he did not let that bother him and kept his nerve to win the second game. That’s the mental strength that makes champions!
Oh what might have been had we had the full 4 players? Dundee City Juniors played one hell of a match against their strong opponents and if they can keep that up and maybe find another junior to help out, you just never know!
But the most important thing about the junior 4NCL is the experience of playing in such a high profile competition and one that will help them develop as chess players!
Congratulations to Chess Rising Stars 1 on their deserved win!
The battle continues with round 4 taking place on Thurs 2nd March 23, 6pm!
