Yosuda Pro Magnetic Exercise Bike review

0 15

REVIEW – One of the most recent projects in my home has been to build and equip a gym. I have had a treadmill for years and recently purchased a rowing machine. The only missing exercise equipment that my wife wanted was an exercise bike. I jumped at the opportunity to test and review this Yosuda Pro Magnetic Exercise Bike.

What is it?

The Yosuda Pro Magnetic Exercise Bike features a magnetic resistance system that makes it almost noiseless when cycling, a maximum weight capacity of 350 pounds, an adjustable handlebar and seat, a 40 LB flywheel, and an iPad stand that allows you to watch videos or listen to music with your own devices while exercising.

What’s in the box

1 x Yosuda Pro Magnetic Exercise Bike frame and accompanying parts
1 x Assembly Instructions Booklet
1 x Display Instruction Sheet

Design and features

Features

  • 350 LBS Weight Capacity: Premium-quality commercial steel material allows for a maximum weight capacity of 350 LBS, and a high level of durability. It can stay stable even if you’re cycling in a standing position.
  • Quiet Magnetic Drive System: The magnetic drive system is almost noiseless when cycling, and the sound can still be controlled below 20 DB even after thousands of times using it.
  • Multiple Adjustable Positions: 4-level up/down & front/back adjustable handlebar and seat (inseam height of 25-35 inches) make it suitable for people of different heights. Cage pedals are also equipped with adjustable straps, which are also compatible with feet of different sizes so that they can be used by the whole family.
  • 40 LBS Flywheel with Adjustable Resistance System: The 40 LBS flywheel fully supports your cycling potential, so whether you’re a beginner or a cycling enthusiast, it’s got you covered. The adjustable resistance system offers you the ability to regulate the intensity of your workout with just a twist to achieve your goal.
  • Data Record Display & Extendable iPad Stand: The display is easy to read and clearly shows RPM, time, speed, mileage distance, calories, and odometer. The iPad stand features anti-skid silicone and foam to prevent the device from falling or getting worn, plus it can be extended up to 11 inches and pivoted up and down to accommodate a variety of angles for convenient viewing.

The first task is to assemble the bike. The instructions are easy to follow and the assembly process is also simple. Here are some snapshots from my assembly process:

Once the bike is assembled, you can immediately use it to exercise. The first issue my wife encountered was the sharp edge on the handlebar extension that cut her and drew blood.
As you can see in the photo above, there is a resistance adjustment knob, but it changes the resistance by turning the knob without any choice of level selection. This is an issue even when trying to work out with YouTube videos that usually use adjustment of resistance in increments. It is hard to make a linear adjustment via this method. My next issue is the absolutely boring LCD screen that provides information on RPM, time, speed, mileage distance, calories, and odometer. For me, motivation works best when working out with an interactive experience. The lack of one on this bike would be a reason for me not to purchase.

Otherwise, the bike riding experience for exercising works. The seat is a bit hard and does become uncomfortable after a short while, but this can be fixed by replacing the seat. The handlebar and seat adjustability work well.

What I like

  • Overall solid build quality
  • Runs quietly
  • Adjustable seat height and handlebar length
  • The nice paint job makes it look sleek

What I’d change

  • Get rid of the sharp edges
  • Lose the black and white LCD screen and design an interactive app that can work with a tablet in the existing tablet holder
  • Include selectable resistance levels so that there can be a better association with online training programs and with the desire for even incremental resistance.

Final thoughts

Liking or disliking exercise equipment is a very subjective dynamic so this summary is totally my opinion. This bike works well to exercise and it is solidly built. IMHO, the bike falls short for me and my wife because it lacks selective resistance adjustment levels, it has sharp edges that actually cut my wife (this is such a simple quality issue), and the boring and non-interactive LCD screen is so “yesterday”. Upgrading this feature so that it can at least pair with an interactive app as opposed to including a LED touchscreen that would understandably result in a price increase, would be a great improvement. Otherwise, the cost of this bike is reasonable.
