JUNIOR 4NCL (Nations Chess League)

Division Three – Group B – Round 2 – Barnet Knights A 5½ – 2½ Dundee City juniors
It was one of those nights were things did not go to plan! Up against a strong side a communication problem or forgetfulness (who knows!) meant 3 of the matches started late, but thankfully start they did!
While all of this was going on, Ramit Kanodia J13 on board 2, powered on in his two matches to win both and give Dundee City Juniors a 2 – nil lead! Well played Ramit!
Alas Alexander Barron-Majerik J9 (board 3) and Haoqi Liu J9 (board 4) suffered defeats in both of their games, leaving Dundee City with an up hill struggle 4 – 2 down!
Rishi Vijaykumar J9 on board one was up against a very strong junior player and lost his first game. But he did take something from his 2nd game (draw) but it was not enough to save the match.
Barnet Knights A 5½ 2½ Dundee City Juniors
Congratulation to Barnet Knights A, on a deserved win. Considering the strength of Barnet Knights A, I think this was a good score in the end. Yes we would all rather win, but sometimes that is not possible and we have to learn how to take defeat on the chin, but not too often!
Well played all four of our players, especially Ramit! I am sure Dundee City Juniors will dust themselves down and get their 4NCL campaign back on track in two weeks time against Harrow Junior E. The experience gained at these types of events will be invaluable as long as they take the time to learn from them!
