Whitewater Safety Training Saturday 10 June

The club plans to run a whitewate safety training day at Holme Pierrpont on Saturday 10 June.

We have run this before and it has proved to both enjoyable and useful.

We spend the day at the bottom of Holme Pierrpont white water course learning to swim and self rescue in fast flowing water, to use throwlines safetly and effectively, to live bait, zip line and so on. It does not need paddling skills as we do not use boats, this is for rescuing and being rescued swimmers.

If you plan to come to the Alps in the summer or come on club trips later in the year it would be great to see you; this way we all know what we are doing and it saves confusion and time.

It is open to ALL CLUB MEMBERS; regardless of ability and age; so long as you have a wetsuit, helmet and bouyancy aid (we can lend you the last two) and are happy to jump into and swim in swiftly flowing water and get involved you should have an enjoyable and informative day.

The cost is £10 for adults and £7.50 for U16s and students payable to the centre on arrival.

You need to be there for 10am to be ready to go at 10.30am: we would aim to finish by 4pm and then there is time to paddle.

Water quality cannot be guaranteed but bring coke to drink at the end of thae day; it seems to stop bugs!

If you are intrested in attending please email me.

Thanks
