Frontier Is Looking to Lure in Ex-Spirit Customers With a $199 Offer

0 4

Spirit Airlines’ abrupt shutdown on May 2 has sent budget-conscious travelers scrambling, leaving many stranded and searching for last-minute alternatives. But Frontier Airlines is stepping in with a new deal aimed at filling that gap, rolling out steep discounts and an unlimited flight pass available only for a limited time.

The low-cost carrier announced it will offer up to 50% off base fares on select flights, along with a $199 unlimited summer flight pass designed to attract travelers looking for flexibility during peak travel season.

The fare discount applies to Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday flights booked at least 21 days in advance, with travel available through Nov. 19. For those booking closer to departure or flying on other days, Frontier is also offering a 10% discount on all flights with no advance purchase required. Tickets must be purchased by 11:59 p.m. on May 10.

The $199 offer is part of Frontier’s “GoWild” Summer Pass, which gives travelers access to unlimited flights across the airline’s network through Sept. 30. On paper, it sounds like a dream for frequent flyers, digital nomads, and anyone trying to squeeze in multiple trips without paying for each one individually.

As always, customers should read the fine print.

Pass holders are still required to pay taxes and fees on each flight segment, and availability can be limited, especially during peak travel periods. Domestic flights typically can’t be booked until one day before departure, while international trips may require booking several days in advance. Early booking fees can also apply, reaching as high as $99 depending on timing and demand.

The timing of the promotion is no coincidence. Frontier’s announcement comes just days after Spirit Airlines ceased operations, leaving travelers scrambling to rebook canceled flights. As one of Spirit’s closest competitors in the ultra-low-cost space, Frontier is clearly positioning itself to capture those displaced customers heading into the busy summer travel season.

The airline has also expanded service across dozens of routes previously operated by Spirit, further signaling a push to absorb demand and scale quickly.

For travelers willing to stay flexible, Frontier’s latest promotion could translate into real savings. But like most ultra-low-cost deals, the value ultimately depends on how you use it and how much inconvenience you’re willing to tolerate along the way.
