PGA Tour Star Faces Backlash Over Behavior at RBC Heritage

0 36

During the final round of the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National last Sunday, Sergio Garcia was issued a code of conduct warning for breaking his driver after an errant tee shot.

PGA Tour star Max Homa called out Garcia's behavior, saying professional golfers "need to be held to a higher standard."

"I don't like when people break clubs. I don't like when people beat up the golf course because we deal with it, and I think the breaking clubs makes us look very, very spoiled," Homa said after finishing T9 at the Masters. "... I definitely think beating up a golf course would be probably tops just because the rest of us have to play it."

Just a few days later, Homa experienced an outburst of his own.

After an errant tee shot on the par-5 15th hole at Harbour Town Golf Links, Homa found himself in a sandy waste area amongst the trees. His punch-out attempt failed to reach the fairway, and he responded with a tomahawk club throw.

Homa is facing some serious criticism for this behavior from golf fans on social media.

'Wait, so @Maxhoma calls out @TheSergioGarcia for his behavior on the golf course but then does THIS just a few days later? A Holier Than Thou moment for Max. Come on," one fan wrote.

"Max Homa, you just got on Sergio Garcia for doing this why would you do something similar very next week?" another asked.

"Yeah, not a good look..." another added.

"This can’t be the same guy that came after Sergio….can it???" another wrote.

Homa finished the RBC Heritage with a final score of 1-under at the PGA Tour signature event, carding a 2-under 69 on Sunday.
