Brooke Hogan Shares Heartbreaking Story on Estrangement From Hulk Hogan

Brooke Hogan opened up about the falling out with her late father, WWE legend Hulk Hogan, before his passing last July.

The highly anticipated Netflix documentary series, Hulk Hogan: Real American, is set for an April 22 release. The four-episode series includes the final interview Hogan conducted before his death.

Hogan dealt with several serious health issues before dying of an acute myocardial infarction (known as a heart attack) on July 24 of last year. He was 18 days away from his 72nd birthday.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Brooke Hogan discussed the heartbreaking events that caused her to stop speaking with The Hulkster, two years before his death. For Brooke, the issues largely stemmed from his close circle:

"He said, ‘You go this way, I go that way.' That hurt. I think that’s what makes me the most annoying member of my family. They know that I will just beat you up until you do the right thing. I could see what was happening with him with the people around him. I could also see his potential and see how life could be. And he just wasn’t there...I was pregnant with my twins. I was newly married. I just had to take a break."

Brooke is the first child of Hulk and Linda Claridge, the wrestling legend's first wife. Hulk and Linda also had a son, Nick. She acknowledged to Us Weekly that even if Hogan were still around today, she doesn't know if they would have made amends:

"I don’t know if we would have ever reconnected, even if he were alive, because of the mindset he was in. He would have had to have a change of mindset and a change of company. I don’t know if he was there. I don’t know if he was willing to do that...

I’m glad he’s out of pain. I know he was in a lot of pain. In a weird way, I feel like I have a better relationship with him now. I find myself just talking to him and saying all the things I wish I could have said. He was kind of tough. It was hard to have tender moments with him because he just didn’t want to talk about it."

After Hogan's funeral, Brooke revealed on Instagram that she didn't attend, instead choosing to honor him with a family day at the beach. Brooke has fraternal twins with her husband, Steven Oleksy.

Brooke Is Still Estranged from Her Mother

In the same interview with Us Weekly, Brooke explained that she still isn't speaking to her mother, Linda. Hulk and Linda had a highly publicized divorce in 2009, and she received about 70 percent of his liquid assets.

Brooke told Us Weekly that Linda sent a message to Steve that was "so cruel and so brutal that if there was any chance at reconciliation, that shut the door completely." Though she also isn't speaking to Nick right now, Brooke added he has her support until "the end."

Linda and Hulk were married from 1983 to 2009. He was married to his second wife, Jennifer McDaniel, from 2010 to 2021. Hogan tied the knot with his third wife, Sky Daily, in 2023. They remained together until his death.
