Luka Doncic Makes Major Decision About His Hamstring Injury

Lakers sensation Luka Doncic is having an MVP-caliber season, boasting averages of 33.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game.

The season has unfortunately ended for him with a devastating hamstring injury that will require him to seek treatment abroad, sidelining him for the remainder of the regular season.

Luka Doncic Travels to Europe for Treatment

Doncic, 27, is currently in Spain receiving hamstring injections to speed up his return for the playoff run. This information comes from his agent, Bill Duffy of WME Basketball, who spoke with ESPN.

Fans had mixed reactions on X after learning the extent of Luka Doncic's efforts to return to action.

One user said, “My dawg doing whatever he can to get back on court.”

Other fans urged caution, with one person writing, "Pls don't rush back," and another adding, "Don't risk further injury."

Someone else replied, “This is good, but not good at the same time.”

The Lakers are facing significant roster setbacks. Following their 134-96 loss to the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder on April 2, Doncic sustained a Grade 2 hamstring injury. This injury is compounded by the absence of shooting guard Austin Reaves, who is sidelined with a Grade 2 left oblique muscle injury. Reaves's absence is particularly notable as he has been playing exceptionally well this season, with averages of 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.

Luka Doncic Passes Kobe Bryant Scoring Record

Before his injury, Doncic broke a scoring record set by late Lakers great Kobe Bryant.

Doncic recently surpassed Bryant's record for most points scored in a single calendar month. His 600 points eclipsed Bryant's March 2006 total of 578. Doncic set the new record during a 127-113 victory over the Cavaliers.

“If you don’t win, it doesn’t really mean anything,” Doncic said after the game. “So the run that we’ve been on, it really means a lot. We’ve got to keep playing like that.”

Doncic and the Lakers reached an agreement last summer on a three-year contract extension, valued at $165 million, which features a player option for the 2028 season.

Kobe Bryant Was Crafty Against LeBron James

NBA superstar LeBron James recently discussed how Kobe Bryant managed to get the best of him during games, a topic that follows recognition of Doncic's quick-twitch moves on the court.

“I swear he used to trick the s***out of me,” James recently said on the popular golf show Bob Does Sports. “I’m like, What play is he running? What the f*** play is Kobe runnin? Then every time they swing the ball to him, he goes iso. I’m like, “Oh, this ain’t no f****** play. This guy is trying to kill me.”

The all-time leading scorer in NBA history competed against Bryant 22 times across 23 seasons, emerging victorious in 16 of those highly competitive contests. Their relationship extended beyond professional competition, as they were also USA Basketball teammates, securing gold medals together at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.
