Extreme Weather Change Announced for 10 States as Temperatures Surge

If you're someone who wants spring to actually feel like a warm season again, then you're in luck, because meteorologists expect a surge in temperatures starting on Friday, April 10, and heading into the weekend.

A strong warmup is on the way for the Midwest, East and Plains, according to weather experts, with highs jumping from bitterly cold temperatures to levels well over the historical average. States that can expect a warmup include the Carolinas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Washington, D.C., as well as surrounding areas. As the weather pattern shifts, Michigan, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Texas and the Plains can also expect warmer weather.

Expect Surging Highs Heading Into Mid-April, With Temperatures Rising 15 to 25 Degrees

"The Northeast will experience another temperature surge from Sunday to Monday," meteorologists from AccuWeather told Men's Journal in a provided statement. "Temperatures will rise by 15 to 25 degrees from one day to the next. Highs are forecast to reach the 70s to near 80 F in Philadelphia and New York City, the 70s in Boston, and well into the 80s in Washington, D.C., on Monday."

While those temperature changes will be marked, other areas of the country will get a subtle shift. "From much of the Ohio Valley, southern Appalachians and the Carolinas southward, any temperature change will be slight," the report continues. "Highs will be mainly in the 80s from Interstate 40 southward from this weekend through at least the first half of next week."

Warm Weather Is Here to Stay for the Month of April, Weather Experts Say

Here's more good news if you like spring weather hot: The warmer weather is here to stay. According to researchers at the NOAA, looking ahead to April 15 through 21, temperatures are projected to be well above normal for most of the United States.

According to the model's eight to 14 day temperature outlook, the majority of the country is in red, meaning it will experience above normal temperatures. Precipitation models have half of the country at normal rain levels and the other half wetter.

So, the beginning of April was brutal for much of the U.S., and even the Easter holiday called for a winter coat. But, you can't outsmart Mother Nature, and true spring weather is ahead.
