Burger King Plots Major Expansion as Business Booms
Famous for their flame-broiled burgers including the Whopper, Burger King is recognized as one of the best fast-food chains available. And while it went through a business downturn, the chain now says business is booming.
Burger King is experiencing a sustained resurgence and is undertaking a massive recruitment drive to fill 60,000 new positions across all roles. This hiring effort is intended to staff their 6,500 restaurants located throughout the U.S.
Burger King Is on a Hiring Spree
Burger King President Tom Curtis stated in a press release that the company is now able to hire for more positions because they have enhanced the customer dining experience.
"We've done the important work of strengthening our operations, modernizing our restaurants, and listening to our Guests, and it's paying off," Curtis said.
"Now we need great people to help us keep that momentum going – people who are passionate, hardworking, and genuinely friendly. A warm welcome goes a long way, and the Team Members who bring that energy every day are at the heart of what makes the Burger King experience special."
She now owns 45 Burger King restaurants.
"Burger King has been part of my family for as long as I can remember,” Dreier explained. “I even got my own start as a Guest Ambassador, serving Guests in the dining room. I grew up watching Team Members turn jobs into decades-long careers, and carrying on that legacy is something I take seriously as a Franchisee. When we bring on new Team Members, we're not just filling roles, we're potentially changing the course of someone's life. Most of my above-restaurant leadership team started as Team Members themselves, and we wouldn't have it any other way."
The Whopper Gets An Upgrade
Burger King’s new hiring spree comes on the heels of them making changes to the Whopper.
Burger King has enhanced its signature burger with a focus on enhanced quality. The improvements include a softer, more premium bun and a re-engineered, creamier mayonnaise. The fresh toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles) have also been upgraded and are now applied in a more even and visually appealing layer.
To ensure the burger maintains its form until it reaches the customer, the Whopper is now served in a specially designed box that prevents flattening.
Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich Gets a Makeover
Wendy's has introduced changes to their popular Spicy Chick Sandwich, mirroring similar menu adjustments seen in other fast-food chains like Burger King. The updated sandwich now features a premium panko-style breading, a richer, newly-marinated mayo, and is served on a soft potato bun.
Wendy’s U.S. Chief Marketing Officer, Lindsay Radkoski said this about the changes: “The Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Sandwich is iconic, and we saw an opportunity to make the best spicy chicken sandwich in the category even better. After more than a year of testing and listening to consumer feedback, one thing was clear: guests wanted everything they already love, just elevated. This refresh honors the sandwich’s legacy while delivering the bold, modern flavor our fans crave.”
