Apple TV's 'Dark Matter' Releases Season 2 First-Look Photos and Premiere Date
What if you could visit the lives you could've lived? What if you had a chance to see those roads not taken? For physicist and professor Jason Dessen, "reckoning with mind-bending alternate realities" is just another day that ends in "y." Apple TV has announced that its critically acclaimed sci-fi thriller Dark Matter will return for a second season sooner rather than later. Starring Joel Edgerton as Jason and Jennifer Connelly as Daniela, Season 2 promises to expand on the central mystery and widen the show's narrative scope. The streamer shared five first-look photos and a release date for the new season.
Here's a synopsis per Apple TV:
"Season 2 picks up with the Dessens as they settle into a quiet life in a world that finally seems safe until the unimaginable forces them to run once again. As Jason’s obsession with the Box deepens, Daniela’s growing paranoia pushes her to the brink, threatening to tear their fragile stability apart. Elsewhere, Amanda and Ryan join forces in a desperate attempt to find their way home. With Blair determined to stop him, Leighton relentlessly chases his grand vision of creating a perfect world."

Ben-Zekry co-wrote every Season 2 episode with Crouch.
Dark Matter will return for its 10-episode second season on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, with new episodes releasing weekly until the finale on Oct. 30. Before you go, check out the rest of the first-look photos.
