Artemis II Live Stream — Watch the Crew Go to the Moon and Back

0 0

Artemis II is more than halfway into its journey to the far side of the moon and back, and on Monday, April 6, the four astronauts on board are scheduled to orbit the moon and start their journey back to Earth.

So, where is the Artemis II live stream, and how do you watch it? The good news is that NASA has real camera feeds as part of their Artemis II live mission coverage, so you can watch the action anytime and anywhere.

In addition, NASA also has a website and an app to help you keep track of the astronauts during their 10-day mission.

If you want to watch real camera footage of Artemis II as it travels around outer space, NASA is broadcasting Artemis II live mission coverage on YouTube, which is free to view. View the camera feed here. You'll notice that hundreds of thousands of people are also watching at the same time. So many people are viewing it, that the chat ticker on the side of the video moves at lightning speed.

Even though Orion won't step foot on the moon, it will fly by it. Orion's lunar flyby is set to happen on Monday, April 6, and when it does, NASA says "the astronauts will take high resolution photographs and provide their own observations of the lunar surface, including areas of the far side of the Moon never seen directly by humans." After the lunar flyby, the Orion spacecraft will start coming back to Earth and is scheduled to land somewhere in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of San Diego, California, on Friday, April 10, according to research from NASA.

So, as the journey to the moon and back takes full circle, you'll be able to keep tracking the Orion on its mission through the live feed and tracker.

The Artemis II crew features NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch, as well as CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen, according to NASA.

"Artemis II, the agency’s first crewed mission in the Artemis campaign," NASA said in a statement, "is a key step in NASA’s path toward establishing a long-term presence at the Moon and confirming the systems needed to support future lunar surface exploration and paving the way for the first crewed mission to Mars."

The Orion spacecraft is scheduled to return to Earth on Friday, April 10. The mission marks humanity's first journey to the moon since 1972.
