Michigan vs. Arizona Prediction: Pick, Odds and Preview for the 2026 Final Four Nightcap

The Michigan vs. Arizona prediction most analysts are landing on is a coin flip. They're wrong to be that cautious — Michigan wins this game, and here's why.

This is the matchup that probably determines the real national champion. Dusty May's Wolverines are No. 1 on KenPom. Tommy Lloyd's Wildcats are No. 2. Both teams have won every tournament game by double digits. Both own top-five offenses and defenses nationally. On paper it's a dead heat. On the floor, one thing separates them: Yaxel Lendeborg.

Why Michigan is Our Pick to Win Against Arizona

Lendeborg is the best player left in this tournament and it isn't particularly close. He's averaged 25 points per game over the last three tournament rounds on 52% shooting from the field. Arizona's frontcourt is excellent — Koa Peat and Ivan Kharchenkov are going to be lottery picks — but none of them are equipped to slow down what Lendeborg has been doing in March.

The second reason is experience. Arizona starts three freshmen. Burries, Peat and Kharchenkov have been the most exciting first-year players in the country all season, but there is no pressure like a Final Four on a Saturday night in an NFL stadium. Michigan is the more veteran team in the moment that rewards it most.

Third: the Wolverines have shot at least 46% from three in each of their first three tournament games. If that holds — even partially — Arizona simply doesn't have an answer.

Michigan vs. Arizona Odds

Via DraftKings Sportsbook:

  • Spread: Michigan -1.5 (-110)
  • Moneyline: Michigan -122, Arizona +102
  • Over/Under: 157.5
  • Tip-off: ~8:49 PM ET, Lucas Oil Stadium — TBS/TNT/truTV

The Potential Pitfall of This Pick

Arizona gets to the free throw line better than anyone in the country. The Wildcats have made more free throws than their opponents even attempted in every single tournament game. If Michigan's bigs — Aday Mara and Morez Johnson Jr. — pick up early foul trouble against Arizona's relentless interior attack, the Wildcats will spend the second half slowly bleeding the Wolverines out from the stripe. That's the scenario that flips this Michigan vs. Arizona prediction entirely.

Michigan vs. Arizona Prediction and Final Pick

Michigan 74, Arizona 70. Lendeborg takes over late, the Wolverines advance to Monday, and we get the championship game nobody predicted at the start of March.
