NASA Reveals 1992 Song Played by Artemis II Crew on Friday

0 1

The Artemis II mission launched from the Kennedy Space Center on Wednesday, beginning a 10-day journey around the Moon.

The crew, featuring astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, is now in its third day of flight on the Orion spacecraft.

In a social media post, NASA revealed that the crew began its third day of flight by listening to "In a Daydream" — a 1992 track by the Freddy Jones Band.

"The sun is shining, to wake me up," the lyrics read. "No one around, just me and the sky. I'm already in, in a daydream."

"TFW you wake up, but life is already a dream," NASA wrote in its post. "Our Artemis II crew started their third flight day with the sounds of 'In a Daydream' by Freddy Jones Band."

The Artemis II crew shared stunning images of the Earth from the Orion spacecraft on Friday morning.

"Good morning, world! We have spectacular new high-resolution images of our home planet, all of us looking back through the Orion capsule window at our Artemis II astronauts as they continue their journey to the Moon," NASA wrote in a separate post.

As of Friday afternoon, the Artemis II crew is more than 110,000 miles away from Earth and just over 150,000 miles away from the Moon, traveling at more than 3,600 miles per hour.

This lunar venture will mark the first time astronauts return to the vicinity of the Moon in over 50 years. The mission could take the astronauts further away from Earth than any human in history.
