Christina Koch Husband & Family: She's Married to Robert
Artemis II astronaut Christina Koch is married to her husband, Robert Koch, and they have a rescue dog together.
Koch is one of the four astronauts traveling around the moon. Her full name is Christina Hammock Koch. Koch and her husband now live in Texas.According to ABC 11, Koch and her husband, Bob Koch, have lived in Galveston with "a rescue pup named LBD for Little Brown Dog." She shared a video on X showing her husband and dog welcoming her home after another spaceflight.
"Christina Hammock Koch was selected as a NASA astronaut in 2013 and is currently assigned as a mission specialist on the Artemis II mission to the moon. She most recently served as a flight engineer onboard the International Space Station as part of Expedition 59, 60, and 61," NASA says.

Koch described telling her husband, Robert, that she was selected for a previous spacewalk by NASA.
Koch later recalled to YNet, “When I found out I had been selected, the first person I wanted to tell was my husband. I planned to tell him while we were both looking at the moon. Unfortunately, it was too cloudy. So I decided to just tell him while we were looking at a cloudy sky. Even so, it was a very special moment, and he was so, so happy for me.”
"Koch was born in Michigan and raised in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and later became a graduate of North Carolina State University," People reported. "Prior to her residency among the stars, she lived in Montana with her husband, Robert Koch. She was selected by NASA to become an astronaut in 2013."
Koch is on Instagram, but her posts focus on her NASA career and colleagues.
"Koch attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she earned Bachelor of Science degrees in electrical engineering and physics and a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering and studied abroad at the University of Ghana," NASA wrote. "She attended high school at the North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham, North Carolina and White Oak High School in Jacksonville, North Carolina. She later received an Honorary PhD from North Carolina State University."
Christina Koch's Family Ran a Farm in Michigan
According to The Detroit News, Koch's family ran a farm in Michigan, although she was largely raised in North Carolina. She helped her grandparents run their market, Under the Pines, in Comstock Park, MI, the newspaper reported.
"You knew she was going to go places," said her cousin, Emily Homrich, to The Detroit News. "You knew there was a lot in store for her. I looked up to her. She was cool, she was edgy, she was doing things, definitely super smart."
Koch's NASA bio explains, "Koch is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, grew up in Jacksonville, North Carolina and resided in Livingston, Montana when she was selected to join the Astronaut Corps. Growing up spending summers on her family’s farm in Michigan, she was instilled with a passion for hard work and challenges. Her hobbies include surfing, rock climbing, community service, running, yoga, backpacking, photography and travel."
