Brady Ebert’s Troubled History Before Attack on Ex-Bandmate's Father

0 1

Former lead guitarist and founding member of Turnstile, Brady Ebert, was arrested on Tuesday for attempted murder and first-degree assault charges after striking lead singer Brendan Yates' father with his car. The charges are from a March 29 incident where Ebert struck William Yates in his driveway, breaking the 78-year-old's leg. The band gave a statement to Rolling Stone after the arrest, reiterating their lack of association with Ebert.

"Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community," the band said. "After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence."

Ebert had been publicly feuding with his former band after his exit, and recently called out his ex-bandmates publicly. According to VICE, after the band posted an anti-ICE instagram story, Ebert called the post pandering and claimed none of the band's members truly cared about social issues. Ebert's accusations went further, accusing Yate's off stealing money from a charity concert. He said the band had raised $10,000, but Yates took $4,000, claiming he needed to cover the merch bill.

When Ebert left the band in 2022, drummer Daniel Fang reportedly filed for a restraining order against him. In his social media outburst, Ebert also talked about the restraining order, claiming there was not enough evidence for one.

“In other words, they had no reason to file it, and it was all over text messages, which they showed the judge, and the judge agreed with me without me even having to testify," Ebert said. "So next time, before you spread bullsh*t misinformation, say that sh*t to my face.”

Ebert's tirade led his newly formed band to drop him before their debut album release. The S.E.T., or Self Evident Truth, was formed in early 2026 with Ebert as the frontman, but he was swiftly kicked out of the band by Feb. 6. After being ousted, Ebert formed Experience and is set to release new music soon, according to the band's Instagram. Ebert is currently being held in custody without bail, and Experience is yet to make a statement.
