LeBron James Refuses to Play for 1 NBA Team

0 1

LeBron James has suited up for three different franchises over the course of his NBA career and is set to potentially choose another one this summer as an unrestricted free agent. However, it sounds like he's already ruled out one destination.

This week, a video has gone viral showing the future Hall of Famer giving his true and honest thoughts on an NBA franchise that he thinks should leave its city altogether.

Not a Fan of Memphis

This week, a video made rounds on social media showing James out on the golf course taking some not-so-subtle shots at the city of Memphis.

In the clip, he made it very clear that he’s not a fan of traveling there and has no interest in ever playing for the Grizzlies as long as the team remains in Memphis.

"At 41 years old, you think I'm gonna do that [expletive]? In Memphis on a random (expletive) Thursday?" James said incredulously in a video shared on social media by Legion Hoops.

When someone joked that the future Hall of Famer likely wouldn’t be joining the Grizzlies anytime soon, James took it a step further, adding that even if Memphis had somehow landed him in the draft, he might have refused to join the team, like Eli Manning did when he was selected by the San Diego Chargers.

"Yeah, they know," James said. "Their only chance was in 2003 if they had won the lottery, getting me there. And I might have pulled an Eli Manning and never showed up."

Manning was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2004 but declined to play for the team, leading to a draft-day trade to the New York Giants in exchange for Philip Rivers.

Move to Nashville?

While this is certainly a bold statement from James, the NBA legend indicated that this sentiment isn’t unique to him.

"I'm not like the first guy to even talk about this in the NBA," James said. "We're all like 'You guys have to move.' Just go over to Nashville.'"

James pointed out that Nashville is a more appealing option that's more than capable of supporting an NBA team.

As James points out, Nashville is a larger city with a strong sports presence. The city is already home to Vanderbilt University, hosts NASCAR events, and supports existing pro teams like the Tennessee Titans and Nashville Predators.

"They've got everything," James said of Nashville.

As for James, he’s expected to hit unrestricted free agency this summer once the season wraps up, giving him the freedom to sign anywhere as he approaches the final chapter of his legendary career.

That said, it’s safe to assume Memphis won’t be on his list.
