Kanye West’s New Album Smashes a Spotify Record

Kanye West (also known as Ye) dropped his 12th studio album, Bully, just days ago, but his latest offering has already smashed a Spotify streaming record in the Hip-Hop category.

Kanye West Breaks Spotify Record

According to a recent post on X (Twitter) by popular music platform Kurrco, Bully had “the biggest Spotify streaming record of any rapper in 2026.”

This news was met with both praise and criticism for the 48-year-old popular artist.

One person said, “The LEADER is soo baacckkk,” while another person replied, “Ye might have the most streams but not the best rap album of 2026..”

Someone else questioned, “How does he keep on breaking the rules,” and another individual gave a bold prediction, “BULLY selling 300k+ calling it now.”

ChartData, an independent music platform, reported that Bully achieved 33.2 million streams on Spotify during its initial partial day of release. However, Gamma, the multimedia company collaborating with West on the release of Bully, challenged this figure by posting a now-deleted rebuttal on its Instagram story.

"BULLY did close to 50M in its first full day at Spotify,” the story said. “That would make it one of the biggest first weeks of the year on Spotify alongside BTS and Harry Styles, and the biggest hip-hop release of the year on Spotify far exceedingJ. Cole. 'Father' did 4.1M streams on Spotify in its first full day globally."

Kanye West Reveals the Inspiration Behind The Album

The new Ye project, which features minimal guest appearances from CeeLo Green, Travis Scott, and Don Toliver, was inspired by his oldest son, Saint. The Grammy award-winning artist, who shares Saint with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, recently revealed the inspiration for the album during a conversation with social media personality Justin LaBoy on The Download Podcast.

“My son was playing with some kid, and then, he kicked him. And I asked my son, ‘why you do that?’ He said, ‘Cause he’s weak.’ And I was like [laughing], this man is really a bully right here.”

West is scheduled to present Bully to an international audience with a three-night headlining engagement at this year’s London Wireless Festival. Previously, West announced his “Homecoming” performance, slated for April 3rd at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Kanye West Apologized For His Actions

Before the release of "Bully," the rapper issued an apology in January through the Wall Street Journal regarding his controversial statements and actions over the past few years, including praising Hitler .

“My words as a leader in my community have global impact and influence. In my mania, I lost complete sight of that,” West explained.

“As I find my new baseline and new center through an effective regime of medication, therapy, exercise, and clean living, I have newfound, much-needed clarity. I am pouring my energy into positive, meaningful art: music, clothing, design, and other new ideas to help the world.

"I’m not asking for sympathy or a free pass, though I aspire to earn your forgiveness. I write today simply to ask for your patience and understanding as I find my way home.”
