Noah Wyle Questions Why He Isn't in Any of Former Costar George Clooney's Films

Veteran actor Noah Wyle wants to ask his legendary heartthrob friend, George Clooney, a burning question.

Noah Wyle Is Curious About One Thing

During a recent appearance on the UK radio show Greatest Hits Radio, Wyle questioned, "Why doesn't George ever put me in one of his movies?"

While speaking with host Kate Thornton, Wyle didn’t mince words when she referred to comments Clooney made to Entertainment Tonight in November 2025 about how happy he was for his leading role as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch in the HBO Max medical drama, The Pitt

At the time, Clooney said, "If I'm allowed to be, I am so deeply, deeply proud of Noah." Clooney was then asked if he would “get back in the ER” and make a guest appearance on The Pitt, to which he responded, “In a heartbeat.” Wyle responded slyly, saying, “Perhaps his last heartbeat.”

“You see how I keep ducking that question?... He doesn't really want to come on The Pitt,” he said. “Suddenly, I'm on a hit show, he wants to come and play. The last 15 years, where has he been? Ocean's 12, 13, I never made the cut.”

George Clooney and Noah Wyle both starred on the TV show ER. Wyle played Dr. John Carter from 1994 to 2005, gaining TV fame during his run, while Clooney played Dr. Doug Ross from 1994 to 1999.

Wyle appeared on Greatest Hits Radio to promote the launch of HBO Max in the UK.

Noah Wyle Shines Bright On The Pitt

Wyle also discussed with Greatest Hits Radio how each episode of The Pitt is constructed.

"The Pitt is a 15-episode series; it takes place in a hospital emergency room, but each episode is one hour of one shift,” he said. So at 7 a.m. you go to work with my character, Dr. Michael Robby Rabinovich, and you stay with me for the next 15 hours while we work through a very difficult shift."

First responders dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic shared with him how the show ER helped them manage their experiences in the hospital.

“I was sitting at home not working during the pandemic like most people, but I was getting a lot of mail from first responders who were telling me how difficult it was in the trenches, but also saying how grateful they were that they had ER to watch when they got home.”

This served as the inspiration for The Pitt, which Wyle, along with executive producer John Wells, was "gratified to tell."

"It just seemed like a perfect time to try to remind everybody what heroic work it is, what angelic work it is, and even though we're frustrated by long wait times or sometimes distracted physicians, they are there attending everybody's worst day four times an hour, 12 hours a day, and it takes a toll," Wyle said.

The Pitt was honored at this year's Golden Globes, winning for Best Television Series – Drama. Wyle also received an award for his role in the show, taking home Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama.

As an executive producer, Wyle was recognized with an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2025; He also won the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy the same year for the medical drama.
