Explosive Euphoria Season 3 Trailer Features Eric Dane, Time Jump

Euphoria’s long-awaited return is nearly here and HBO just dropped a new trailer to build hype for Season 3.

On Monday, March 30, the network debuted the second, full-length trailer for the show’s third season. Its April 12 return comes four years after the previous season and, as the new footage proves, will include quite a time jump for its many characters.

Season 3 will also feature one of the last on-screen performances of the late Eric Dane, who continued filming after his ALS diagnosis. He died in February at the age of 53. He appears briefly in the new teaser, as his Cal Jacobs reunites with Hunter Schafer’s Jules Vaughn.

The new footage gives fans a glimpse at what to expect when the show returns, teasing what the main characters are all up to after high school.

It appears to show Zendaya’s Rue being interrogated by DEA agents, while other footage shows her swallowing baggies of drugs in Mexico.

Rue’s apparent drug mule status isn’t the only major development, as Sydney Sweeney’s Cassandra “Cassie” Howard has tied the knot with Jacob Elordi’s Nate Jacobs, Maude Apatow’s Lexi got a job in Hollywood working for new cast member Sharon Stone’s network exec and Alexa Demie’s Maddy is up to some scheming.

“The one thing we all agreed on is we can’t go back to high school — although many, many shows have had 30-year-old high school students, we’re not,” show creator Sam Levinson previously told The Hollywood Reporter of the time jump.

Levinson also said the time jump was around 5 years.

New and Returning Cast Members

The new video confirms the returns of Colman Domingo, Alanna Ubach, Chloe Cherry and Nika King, as well as some new faces.

In a press release, HBO confirmed Martha Kelly, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Toby Wallace are all regulars this season, while Sophia Rose Wilson, Melvin Bonez Estes, Daeg Faerch, Paula Marshall, Zak Steiner, and Marsha Gambles are all returning guest stars.

New guest stars, in addition to Stone, include singer Rosalía, Danielle Deadwyler, Marshawn Lynch, Anna Van Patten, Asante Blackk, Bella Podaras, Bill Bodner, Cailyn Rice, Christopher Ammanuel, Christopher Grove, Colleen Camp, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Eli Roth, Gideon Adlon, Hemky Madera, Homer Gere, Jack Topalian, James Landry Hébert, Jeff Wahlberg, Jessica Blair Herman, Justin Sintic, Kadeem Hardison, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Matthew Willig, Meredith Mickelson, Natasha Lyonne, Priscilla Delgado, Rebecca Pidgeon, Sam Trammell, Smilez, Trisha Paytas, Tyler Lawrence Gray, and Vinnie Hacker.

As for the plot, HBO only released this: “A group of childhood friends wrestle with the virtue of faith, the possibility of redemption, and the problem of evil.” Buckle up!

Euphoria’s return comes after an extended break, due to the availability of the show's in-demand actors, as well as the SAG-AFTRA and Writers Guild of America Strikes.

In the time since Season 2 the cast and crew also lost two of their own: Eric Dane and Angus Cloud.

Cloud, whose character Fez died in the Season 2 finale, died of an accidental overdose in February 2023. Dane, meanwhile, died from respiratory failure due to ALS in February 2025.

Season three of “Euphoria” is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on April 12.
