Sheriff Releases Statement on Tiger Woods Car Crash and DUI Arrest in Florida
Law enforcement officials in Florida have released new details surrounding Tiger Woods’ arrest following a rollover crash in Jupiter, describing a sequence of events that began with high speed, a collision, and a failed sobriety evaluation.
At a press conference, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the crash occurred around 2 p.m. on a two-lane residential road when a pickup truck attempted to turn into a driveway. According to authorities, Woods was driving a Range Rover at a high rate of speed at the same time, resulting in a collision that caused the SUV to flip onto its side.

Officials said Woods was able to exit the vehicle through a passenger-side window after the crash. Deputies responded shortly after and initiated an on-scene assessment.
Tiger Woods Failed 'Multiple Field Sobriety Tests'
During the investigation, law enforcement said Woods showed signs they described as impaired behavior and failed multiple field sobriety tests. However, an alcohol breath test reportedly registered 0.00%.
The sheriff’s office said it believes alcohol was not a factor in the crash, instead pointing to possible medication use, though no specific substances were identified.
Woods was taken into custody at the scene and later booked on DUI charges, along with refusal to submit to a urine test, according to authorities. Officials said he declined a chemical urinalysis after being transported to the station.
Law enforcement also noted Woods referenced prior surgeries during the encounter, which they said were considered during the investigation.
No injuries were reported to Woods or the driver of the pickup truck involved in the crash.
The arrest marks another legal incident for Woods in Jupiter, Florida, where he was previously arrested in 2017 on DUI-related charges. In that case, Woods later said the incident stemmed from an unexpected reaction to prescription medications.
