0 1

Golf pro Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover crash on Friday, March 27, in Jupiter Island, Florida, according to a report from the Martin County Sheriff's Office. Juts before the crash, Woods had sent a clear message about his well-being, and it's worth looking at now.

The incident happened just after 2 p.m., according to CBS 12, in the area of 281 Beach Road on Jupiter Island. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, and during a press conference, they announced that Woods was charged with a DUI and property damage after the crash. Authorities say the arrest was not alcohol related, "as he passed a breathalyzer at the jail house but refused to take a urine test," according to Golfweek. He'll be in jail until 11 p.m. ET Friday, March 27.

Tiger Woods DUI Arrest and Crash: Golfer Spoke About His Well-Being Weeks Before Incident

Woods had just come back from back surgery, which he underwent in October of 2025. The golfer appeared in the TGL finals on Tuesday, March 24, and the appearance was his 2026 debut in the indoor simulator league.

When asked in a pre-tournament press conference in February about is Woods was coming back to playing on either the PGA Tour or Champions Tour, he opened up about his well-being and how he's feeling after the surgery.

"Well, I'm trying, put it that way," he said, not giving too much information out. Then, when asked if he's had any setbacks, Woods was clear that it hasn't been easy to come back from his latest surgery.

"Well, the disc replacement has been one thing," he told reporters. "It's been a challenge to -- I've had a fused back and now a disc replacement, so it's challenging."

Woods added, "And now I entered a new decade, so that number is starting to sink in and has us thinking about the opportunity to be able to play in a cart. That's something that, as I said, I won't do out here on this tour because I don't believe in it. But on the Champions Tour, that's certainly that opportunity." When asked if he had a target yet, Woods said, "I don't."

Switching gears to Woods' physical condition again, he was asked about his Achilles. "The Achilles was not an issue," he said. "I can't dunk a basketball anymore, so don't have to worry."

Tiger Woods Said His 'Quality of Life' Was Better During His Earlier Surgeries

He added, "As far as the disc replacement, it's just sore. It takes time. Willy Z went through it, and it took him a while to come back. I'm a little bit older than Willy Z. It's probably going to take me a little bit longer. My body has been through a lot."

He added that it's one of those situations that's "each and every day, I keep trying, I keep progressing, I keep working on it, trying to get stronger, trying to get more endurance in this body and trying to get it at a level at which I can play at the highest level again."

Woods also said that he's able to hit full shots but "not well every day, but I can hit them."

Compared to his previous surgeries, he said, "The quality of life was better back then because it was just new. It was my first operation, so I've had many operations since then, so body has been through a little bit more."
