Jeep Recalls Its Only Electric SUV
According to filings with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there is a new recall covering the Jeep Wagoneer S, the brand's sole EV in its lineup until the Jeep Recon comes along. Fortunately, the recall is relatively small, covering 11,767 SUVs. The NHTSA's recall notice says that liftgate hinge covers may have been installed incorrectly, which could, in turn, lead to them falling off.
Jeep's NHTSA filings indicate that if the hinge covers detach, they may impact other motorists, increasing the risk of an accident or injury. 2024 to 2026 model year Jeep Wagoneer S models are subject to the recall, and Jeep has stopped sales of the most recent Wagoneer S EVs until the fix can be implemented. Production dates fall between March 21, 2025, and July 24, 2025. Thankfully, the brand says it is not aware of any

Speaking of the fix, owners can call their dealers to schedule service. There, a technician will secure the covers or replace them. It should be a relatively simple service that Jeep says will be performed for free. Based on Jeep's use of the word "clipped," it's possible that the fix may be as simple as pushing the offending bodywork back into place.
If you own a 2024-2026 Jeep Wagoneer S, your vehicle may be subject to the recall. You can check via your VIN or vehicle year, make, and model online at the NHTSA's website. Owners will also be notified of the recall by mail, with Jeep stating these will be sent out on May 1, 2026.
