Why We Love This Deal

Getting premium running shoe tech usually means paying a premium price—around $150 or more if you want the best cushioning foams and other perks. But over at Joe’s New Balance Outlet, you can get best-in-class designs for great prices, especially now that the retailer is in the middle of a sitewide sale (extra 30% off on select styles) until March 28. Looking for running shoe comfort in an everyday pair of sneakers? The outlet has an awesome deal on a Fresh Foam X-equipped New Balance sneaker going on right now.

The New Balance Fresh Foam Trainer is on sale for as low as $70, which is up to a 50% discount from its normal price of $140. The white colorway is available at that price, and three others—off-white, tan, and green—are on sale for $73, a 48% discount. This is a max-cushion shoe that utilizes New Balance’s top-tier Fresh Foam X midsole material, but it’s designed for casual wear and walking. At $70, it’s a screaming deal compared to other well-cushioned shoes like the Hoka Bondi ($175) and even the New Balance 1080 ($170).

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Colorways Available: 1 for $70, 3 for $73
  • Sizes Available: 4-14
  • Midsole Material: Fresh Foam X
  • Weight: 9.1 ounces
  • Best For: Casual wear, walking

The Fresh Foam Trainer is essentially a low-speed, casual wear version of New Balance’s 1080 max-cushion shoe. Like the 1080, the Trainer is built around a thick midsole made from Fresh Foam X, New Balance’s top-tier foam for training-oriented running shoes. It’s exceptionally soft and forgiving—one shopper compared the midsole to a marshmallow—and it compresses easily at landing to dissipate impact forces and generate a soft, pillowy ride.

The sole also has a rocker shape (it turns up at the front and back) for smooth transitions from landing to toe off, but the sole also has a large contact patch for good traction and stability—a must for walking and everyday wear. The padded ankle collar and tongue create a comfortable fit, and the Trainer’s array of neutral colorways helps the shoe blend into all kinds of outfits, especially athleisure looks.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Want a pair of shoes that’ll feel great on your feet? Look no further. Shoppers agree the Trainer serves up an exceptionally plush ride, and the Fresh Foam midsole will keep your feet well-padded all day long. Reviewers praised the shoe’s “super comfortable” design and “very soft,” cushy sole, and one shopper even said wearing the Trainer is “like walking on marshmallows.”

This sale at Joe’s only lasts a few more days, and this Fresh Foam Trainer could definitely sell out before then (several size/colorway combos are already out of stock). Toss a pair in your cart before this 50% discount disappears or Joe’s runs out of stock.
