Chuck Norris' Son Posts Heartbreaking Tribute After Father's Death
Chuck Norris' family is in mourning following the actor's death on Thursday, March 20 at the age of 86, with his son, Dakota, sharing an especially touching tribute to social media on Friday.
His family as a whole first confirmed his passing earlier this morning.
“It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning,” his family shared on social media. “While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.”
His death comes after he was hospitalized following a medical emergency Thursday in Hawaii, per TMZ. No cause of death has been revealed.
Chuck Norris' Son Pays Tribute
Friday morning, Norris' son Dakota—one of his twin children with wife Gena O'Kelley—took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to his father.
“Dad, it’s hard to find the right words for this, but I’ll do my best,” he captioned a series of photos of the father-son duo together.
“You’ve been the man I looked up to my whole life. Your generosity, your kindness, your courage, your integrity, your strength, your discipline, and your faith in the Lord were just a handful of things I always admired about you,” he wrote. “You lived your life with purpose and with love for all people.”
Dakota went on to call Norris “the greatest father God could have ever given me and the finest man I’ve ever known.”
“No matter what I was going through, you were always there. You made sure I knew how much you loved me,” his passionate post continued. “Honest to God, I don’t think there was a single day that went by where you didn’t say it. I’m so proud to be your son. The memories we made, the lessons you taught me, and the constant laughs we shared will stay with me for the rest of my life.”
He concluded his post by thanking his father for all he did for him and their family, before adding, “I hope I can live a life that honors you and makes you proud. I love you, Dad. I’ll miss you forever.”

Norris was father to five children at the time of his death.
He and first wife Dianne Holechek, to whom he was married from 1958 to 1989, had two sons together; Mike and Eric. He was also dad to daughter Dina, who was the result of an affair and who he didn't even knew existed until she was 26.
Norris also shared twins Dakota and Danilee with wife Gena O'Kelley, who he was married to from 1998 until the time of his death.
The action star is also reportedly survived by 13 grandchildren.

Chuck Norris' final Instagram post came just 10 days before his death was announced, when the actor celebrated his 86th birthday.
Norris shared a video to Instagram on March 10, 2026. In it, he appeared to be somewhere tropical—the actor died in Hawaii—as he sparred with another man outside. “I don’t age. I level up,” he captioned the post.
“I’m 86 today! Nothing like some playful action on a sunny day to make you feel young,” he continued. “I’m grateful for another year, good health and the chance to keep doing what I love.”
He closed his post with a message to fans, adding, “Thank you all for being the best fans in the world. Your support through the years has meant more to me than you’ll ever know.”
