Chuck Norris Lost His Mother and First Wife Shortly Before His Death

In March 2026, action movie fans were stunned by the sudden passing of the icon Chuck Norris. A closer look at the film legend's final months shows that he endured deep personal grief before his passing due to the recent deaths of his mother and first wife.

Chuck Norris' Mother: A Long Life and Farewell

Chuck Norris was born on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, and lived to the age of 86. Despite his long life, Norris' mother lived even longer as she was alive for more than a century. On December 6, 2024, TMZ reported that Norris' mother, Wilma, had died at 103 years old. At the time, the actor paid tribute to his mom with a touching Instagram tribute.

"Wednesday morning, my brother Aaron and I’s wonderful mother went home to be with Jesus. Our mom was a woman of unwavering faith, a beacon of light in our lives, and her love reflected God’s grace. Growing up, her laughter filled our home with joy, and her hugs provided a sense of safety that we will forever cherish. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special, often putting the needs of others before her own. From my earliest memories, she taught me the importance of kindness and compassion. I am so thankful for the countless lessons she shared, the prayers she lifted for us, and the way she embodied the love of Christ every day. We love you, Mom. Until we meet again."

The Death of Chuck Norris' First Wife

About a year after his mother's death, TMZ reported on December 21, 2025, that Chuck Norris' first wife, Dianne Holechek, had died at 84 years old. She passed away in her Texas home after a lengthy battle against dementia.

The outlet noted that the couple had been high school sweethearts and they had two children together, Mike and Eric Norris. They separated in 1988 and divorced the following year. After Holechek's passing, Mike Norris spoke to TMZ about his mother. "We are thankful she is no longer suffering. She was the best, the greatest mom. We were so lucky to have her."
