Most Citrus Colognes Fade Fast. D.S. & Durga Italian Citrus Lasts All Day—and Is Always in My Dopp Kit

Men’s Journal aims to feature only the best products and services.  If you buy something via one of our links, we may earn a commission.

A person's fragrance is one of the most subtle (hopefully) and most influential forms of self-expression. Whether you exhibit a quiet confidence or turn heads, D.S. & Durga's Italian Citrus is sure to make you stand out amongst the crowd. It's earned my top honor as the Best Travel Cologne in this year's Men's Journal Travel Awards.

Unlike most citrus scents, it's built to last. D.S. & Durga uses strong base anchors that are herbal and woody to carry the lighter citrus notes through the day. If you're seeking a new cologne to add to your Dopp kit, this is a no-brainer.

Why D.S. & Durga Italian Citrus Is the Best Travel Cologne of 2026

Why I Chose It

D.S. & Durga is a husband-and-wife small-batch perfumery operating on the principle that perfume is armchair travel. Italian Citrus bottles five cold-pressed coastal citrus rinds over copaiba balsam, incense, and oakmoss. It features top notes of pressed lemon, chinotto, and blood orange and heartnotes of green mandarin, violet leaf, and incense.

Orchard-fresh and Mediterranean without being juvenile, this scent has a dry down that lasts hours, which is rare for citrus colognes. The 10ml travel spray was purpose-built for a carry-on. When I'm packing light, it's the only one I bring—and a far more interesting choice than what every other guy is wearing.

Top Notes (initial scent)

  • Lemon
  • Blood orange
  • Chinotto (bitter orange)

Heart Notes (after ~15 to 30 minutes)

  • Green mandarin
  • Violet leaf
  • Incense

Base Notes (long-lasting dry down)

  • Copaiba balsam
  • Oakmoss

Why You Should Trust Me

As a travel writer and photographer, I spend more nights in hotel rooms than in my own bed. I rely on everyday travelers’ experiences as much as any official “expert” endorsement, then test each product everywhere from bumpy jeep rides across the Maasai Mara to back-to-back layovers in Tokyo. If it can’t hack the chaos of my on-the-road routine, it doesn’t make my list.
