Nickelodeon Star Arrested in Malibu Burglary—Then Suddenly Released

Former Nickelodeon star Chris O'Neal was arrested on March 16 in connection with an alleged burglary in Malibu, reports TMZ.

According to the outlet, police responded to a call at 5:45 a.m. claiming that someone saw three strangers in their house on security camera footage. After entering, they obscured the cameras, similar to the suspicious man who appeared on Nancy Guthrie's doorstep.

O'Neal was arrested in connection with the burglary, but was released the next day, as the LAPD had "insufficient grounds to file a complaint against that person."

O'Neal played Kevin Reed, a major role in the short-lived Nickelodeon sitcom How to Rock. The show aired for one season in 2012 and starred Cymphonique Miller, daughter of Master P and sister of Romeo — who had his own self-titled Nickelodeon show in the early 2000s.

In the show, Miller's character, Kacey Simon, gets braces and glasses — the reverse of an '80s movie makeover. As a result, she's ostracized by her vain popular friends and befriends three unpopular guys. She goes on to join their band, Gravity 5, and start a rivalry with her former friends, known as the Perfs.

In similar fashion to Victorious, How to Rock was intended as a vehicle to launch Miller as Nickelodeon's teenage acting/singing sensation a la the popular Disney stars at the time, like Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. While the three of them went on to have major mainstream music success, Miller and her series failed to catch on.

While she didn't become the next teen pop sensation, Miller is still releasing music under the pseudonym Niq. She has almost 100,000 subscribers on YouTube and released two music videos in 2024. "Never 2 Much" is a cover of the Luther Vandross classic "Never Too Much." The other, "Pressure," is a soulful hip-hop song with impressive group choreography.
