Why We Love This Deal
REI’s Members sale just kicked off, and through March 23, members can save 20% on a full-price product (and an REI Outlet product) with code MEMBER26. On top of that, the retailer is offering huge discounts on a ton of name-brand gear, and the discounts are especially good for fleece jackets.
Right now is the best time to stock up on fleece, specifically from top outdoor brands that don’t have sales very often outside of the shoulder months. That means you'll find big deals on big hitters from Patagonia, The North Face, Columbia, and many others. After Men's Journal looked through the fleece deals at REI, we found four jackets that are worth an immediate add-to-cart before sizes sell out.
The North Face Yumiori Full-Zip Jacket, $55 (was $110) at REI
The North Face's Yumiori fleece is one of the newest drops in the bunch, and it’s made with recycled polyester high-pile fleece and sports a medium weight that’s easy to layer with or wear solo. You get two zippered hand pockets and a chest pocket for storage, and mechanical-stretch binding on the cuffs/hem for durability.
What Shoppers Are Saying: “I literally wear this out for pretty much anything—going to the gym, running errands, pairing this down as a business casual for work, etc.”

- The North Face Hydrenalite Down Hoodie, $125 (was $250) at REI
Fjallraven Abisko Grid Fleece Hoodie, $100 (was $180) at REI
We dubbed the Abisko hoodie a “do-it-all” midlayer, and that’s largely thanks to the polyester fleece's grid design, which gives the jacket more loft for warmth when you want it and breathability/moisture-wicking when it’s too hot. It’s finished with a hood using the same material, and a full-length front zipper.
What Shoppers Are Saying: “Very versatile and comfortable. I love grid fleece hoodies and own more than I should admit from different companies, but the Abisko Grid Fleece easily stands out from the rest.”

Patagonia R1 Thermal Full-Zip Hoody, $150 (was $219) at REI
Patagonia’s R1 is made with some spandex-Technostretch fleece for movement. That means it’s a great layer for mountain activities, both during and outside of winter. The outer material can also deal with light snow and wind, along with the (helmet-friendly) hood.
What Shoppers Are Saying: “The R1 Hoody is a great layer when it’s not too cold out. It can stand alone during aerobic activity or can be layered under a shell and not feel too overheated. It’s also perfect for shoulder season outings and even a comfy layer for long plane rides.”

- Patagonia Reclaimed Fleece Jacket, $123 (was $189) at REI
Columbia Jasper Ridge Pebbled Full-Zip Fleece Jacket, $46 (was $92) at REI
This is also a newer drop, hailing from a more budget-friendly brand that doesn’t compromise on quality. Columbia’s fleece jacket is a simple, lightweight layer with two snap-close hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket. It’s also made entirely of recycled material, giving it a sustainable edge.
What Shoppers Are Saying: “The jacket is very warm and the quality is very premium. I love how smooth it is, and I still can use it under a big coat.”
