The Simple Smoothie Add-in That One Cardiologist Calls ‘Like Ozempic’

0 2

If you’re on a weight-loss journey, you’re likely eager to learn anything and everything about optimizing your daily lifestyle. After all, losing weight isn’t easy—and the journey is unique for everyone. It involves hard work, dedication, and commitment to healthier habits. That said, we have one simple tip that’s not a major overhaul to your daily regimen—in fact, Martha Stewart’s cardiologist says it’s “like Ozempic.”

The Healthy Smoothie Add-in Martha Stewart’s Cardiologist Says Is Like 'Taking Ozempic'

One extraordinary ingredient Stewart's cardiologist swears by? Beet powder—and you can easily add it to your morning smoothie or homemade juice for a healthy boost. That's right! One quick sprinkle a day can keep the doctor away—and so much more.

Lifestyle icon Martha Stewart recently shared on her podcast, The Martha Stewart Podcast, during a recent episode called “Clean Eating Doesn’t Have to be All or Nothing,” that she consumes beet powder on a daily basis. In fact, it’s become a key player in her homemade green juice.

Stewart’s go-to concoction contains celery, celery leaves, spinach, cucumber, ginger, beet powder, “lots of parsley,” and orange peel. She even grows celery leaves at home and noted during the podcast episode that beet powder makes her juice ritual “even better.”

The celeb added that the suggestion actually came from her cardiologist.

“She said it’s like ‘taking Ozempic.’ You lose weight with it, it’s extremely good for heart health—and wait ’til you taste it, it’s so delicious,” Stewart shared.

What Exactly is Beet Powder?

Beets are a root vegetable known for their vibrant, dark red hue. They’re a common vegetable used in many types of cuisines and are a popular topping to salads and grain bowls. Both beet powder and beetroot powder come from beets and offer similar health benefits.

And Stewart's doctor isn't the only one who's touting the benefits of beet powder. According to Cleveland Clinic, beetroot powder is made from ground dried beets and it can be a total game-changer in your daily wellness routine. Fun fact? Just one teaspoon of beetroot powder equals an entire beet!

The ingredient can help blood flow and oxygen throughout your body and may support your performance in active hobbies like cycling, running, and more.

You can mix beet powder into a tall glass of water for a simple, quick drink, blend it into a fresh fruit smoothie for a healthy morning boost, or add a sprinkling into homemade baked goods for additional nutrients.

The Benefits of Adding Beets to Your Diet

The benefits of including beets in your diet can’t be denied—research says so.

One study indicated that nationally and internationally ranked kayakers improved their performance after taking beetroot supplements. Another study suggested improved exercise recovery after beetroot supplementation. Additional research revealed that athletes were able to use exercise bikes for a longer time period and at a higher level of intensity following six days of drinking beetroot juice.

Beetroot powder may also be helpful when it comes to erectile dysfunction due to improved blood flow.

You can find various beet powders at CVS, Target, Whole Foods, Walgreens, ACME, and on Amazon, to name just a few.
