'Severance' Season 3 to Begin Filming 'Very Soon' Adam Scott Says While Sharing Telling Details
Season 2 of the hit Apple TV+ show Severance ended on a major cliffhanger, leaving fans of the show clamoring for more. Now, it sounds like they might not have to wait all that much longer.
The show was renewed for a third season before the second season even ended, allowing its creators to plan the upcoming season of the show well in advance. Now, according to one of the show's stars, it sounds like Severance season 3 will begin filming in the near future.
'Very, Very Soon'
During a recent interview with Deadline, Adam Scott, who plays protagonist Mark Scout in the show, revealed that the third season of the hit show will begin filming "very soon."
"We're starting very soon," Scott said in response to a question about the show, via Deadline.
Scott was asked for some clarification about what "very soon" meant, whether he meant next week or next month, but he declined to offer a specific timeline – only adding another "very" to his promise to add emphasis.
"Very, very soon," Scott said. "I'll put two 'verys' on that."
Scott obviously was not willing to give too many details about the upcoming season, but he did reveal some telling details, sharing that there will be some new faces.
"There will be exciting new characters," Scott said. "We'll kind of get to that when we get to that."
Sooner Than Last Time
While fans of the show might be growing impatient for the upcoming third season, the good news is they won't have to wait nearly as long for season 3 as they did for the second season.
Between the finale of season 1 and the premiere of season 2, fans waited about three years. However, that was due to some specific circumstances.
For starters, the creators and studio did not know how much of a success the first season of the show would be and, like most new shows, had not immediately started production on a new season when the first season premiered.
Making matters worse, production of the second season was delayed by the overlapping strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). The WGA Strike lasted from May 2, 2023, until Sept. 27, 2023. The SAG strike lasted from July 14, 2023, until Nov. 9, 2023.
"We got hit with the strike in the middle, and it takes a little while," producer Ben Stiller said on the Today Show last year. "I'm so happy we're back and that the fans stuck with us from the first season."
While there is still no timeline for when season 3 could premiere, Stiller has assured fans that they would not have to wait three years this time.
“No, no, the plan is not — definitely not,” Stiller said on the "New Heights" podcast last year. “No, the plan is not, and hopefully, we’ll be announcing what the plan is very soon. That will not be that.”
