Oscars 2026 Nominations — Best Picture Has 10 Films Up for the Honor
The 2026 Oscars are upon us, and the nominations for Best Picture pack plenty of variety. An impressive 10 films are up for the honor of Best Picture, making this a full category of movies all hoping to take home that prized award.
Oscars 2026 Nominations for Best Picture: 20 Films Are Vying for the Honor
So, which films are up for the honor? The 2026 films include Bugonia, F1, Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, Sinners and Train Dreams.
Who will win? That's another story. But, according to research from Rotten Tomatoes, Sinners has the most nominations with 16 total nominations, Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Delroy Lindo, Best Directing for Ryan Coogler and others. The film with the second-most nomination is One Battle After Another with 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Teyana Taylor and Best Casting.
Variety magazine projects Sinners will take home the Oscar for Best Picture. "It was a year defined by blockbusters and indies, sins and grief, and the universal language of cinema," Clayton Davis of the publication states. "In only a few days, we will witness the ultimate showdown in one of the most competitive Oscar landscapes in recent memory: Paul Thomas Anderson’s political action epic One Battle After Another versus Ryan Coogler's record-setting vampire drama Sinners."
Deadline magazine disagrees and has One Battle After Another taking the top honor. "The safe bet, if there is one, remains Paul Thomas Anderson’s instant classic, as it has been since that official Academy screening before the film opened in September," Pete Hammond of the outlet notes. "The packed house of members at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater that night went wild, unlike I have ever witnessed there."
The 2026 Oscars are set to air on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. Eastern time on ABC and Hulu. Conan O'Brien will host. Watching the Oscars is pure glittery fun in the best way. Between the speeches, awkward jokes and surprise wins, truly anything can happen. You're rooting, gasping, texting friends and pretending you predicted everything. It's Hollywood drama, nostalgia and movie love all rolled into one sparkling night.
