'Yellowstone' Spinoff Already Has a Season 2 Renewal Even Though Season 1 Has Barely Started

You can't keep the Duttons down! As Marshals Season 1 just begins to saddle up—only two episodes have aired so far—CBS has already confirmed that the series has been greenlit for a second season. And, there's probably one very specific reason why. Here's what to know about the Marshals Season 2 renewal, plus when Episode 3 of Season 1 streams this week.

On Thursday, March 12, CBS confirmed that the Luke Grimes-led Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals, will get a second season. And in a confirmation post shared on Instagram, CBS noted that over 20 million people watched the premiere of the series two weeks ago. That's a huge number for a few reasons. First, Marshals is airing on a traditional network on Sunday nights as well as streaming on Paramount+ the next day. (Or the night of with a premium account.)

The point is, Marshals, airing as both a network show and a streaming show, could have split its audience or made it confusing for folks to find the show. But, the opposite seems to have happened; Yellowstone fans are watching Marshals anyway they can. 20 million is nothing to shake a stick at.

Marshals Episode 3 Release Date and Streaming Time

Marshals Episode 3, "Road to Nowhere," will hit CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday, March 15. Yes, that's roughly the same time as the Oscars, which airs on ABC and streams on Hulu. Can Kayce Dutton hold off the Oscars? With 20 million people watching the debut of Marshals, you never know!

Every Sunday until TK, Marshalls airs new episodes at this time, and if you have cable or a streaming plan that lets you watch live TV, you can stream on Sunday. But, if you're hoping to watch Marshals on Paramount+, here's the deal: Marshals releases new episodes on Paramount+ the day after airing on CBS. But that's only true if you have a standard “Paramount+ Essential" plan. If you upgrade to a Paramount+ Premium plan (which is $13.99 a month versus the $8.99), then you can watch the episode right away on Paramount+ on Sunday.

Here's the plot synopsis for Marshals Episode 3, "Road to Nowhere": – When a standoff between Broken Rock and local ranchers over a mine groundbreaking turns violent, the Marshals launch a manhunt to find the shooters.

Marshals and 1923 stream on Paramount+. Yellowstone streams on Peacock.
