Hollywood star Ethan Hawke is no stranger to public romances; he was famously married to actress Uma Thurman for almost seven years, and spends the majority of his life in the spotlight. But while he's not shy about his long-lasting marriage, fans would be forgiven for not knowing much about his wife, Ryan Hawke.

Ryan Hawke—born Ryan Shawhughes—is an actress and producer who's been married to Ethan Hawke for upwards of seventeen years. The pair originally met while Shawhughes was the nanny to Hawke's children with then-wife Uma Thurman.

"“After a short period of working for me, Ryan went back to Columbia to get her degree. There were never any scandalous thoughts or actions back then,” the actor expressed in a 2009 interview.

It wasn't until Hawke and Thurman officially filed for divorce in 2005 that the actor kindled a romance with Shawhughes, reporetedly after meeting her again by chance in a park. The wedding was less than three years later, and the pair have been happily married ever since.

"I definitely never wanted to get married again. But sometimes life happens to you. Now, I love Ryan tremendously." After spending so many years in such a public relationship, Hawke decided to go low-key with his next marriage—the pair didn't even announce their engagement until they were wed.

Ethan Hawke has two children through his previous marriage; Maya Hawke and Levon Hawke, both of whom have acting careers of their own. Maya is best known for playing the role of Robin on Netflix's Stranger Things.

Ethan and Ryan Hawke also have two children together; Clementine Jane and Indiana. The pair mostly keep themselves to themselves, but they occasionally make red carpet appearances to celebrate the actor's accomplishments. Most recently, they appeared at the SAG Actor Awards, where Hawke was nominated for Best Actor following his critically acclaimed turn in Blue Moon.
