Why We Love This Deal

The best place to shop for Arc’teryx is… Zappos? Yep, you read that right. Currently, the retailer best known for shoe deals has a whole selection of rare markdowns on coveted Arc’teryx outerwear, including the Beta AR, Delta, and Incendo jackets. This standout deal on the Proton Hoody might be the best of the bunch.

The Arc’teryx Proton Hoody is on sale for $245, a 30% discount from its normal price of $350. It’s available at that price across two colorways, and it’s the best deal I’ve personally seen on this jacket anywhere. Zappos’ price even beats both what REI and Arc’teryx are charging. It's only on sale in a single color—Dynasty, which is a bright red—but it's neutral enough to go with the rest of your gear kit and is highly visible in the vast greens and browns of nature.

What Shoppers Should Know

  • Colorways Available: 2
  • Sizes Available: XS-2XL
  • Shell: 88% nylon, 12% elastane
  • Insulation: PrimaLoft Gold, Coreloft
  • Best For: Hiking, biking, and running in cold weather

The Proton is made from a nylon-elastane shell fabric that offers good durability and stretchiness, and it’s treated with a DWR finish to ward off moisture and stains. The inside is lined with a sturdy and smooth 100% nylon fabric, and the body is filled with Coreloft synthetic insulation.

Shoppers are raving about the insulation in particular, noting the jacket feels exceptionally warm, even when damp. The hood is also insulated (using PrimaLoft synthetic fill) for warmth around your head, and it’s helmet compatible, so it’s a great choice for climbing or skiing.

The hem has drawstring adjusters to block out drafts, and the Proton is designed with an articulated fit that allows good freedom of movement—shoppers pointed to the fit as a key highlight on this jacket. Finally, dual zippered hand pockets and a zippered chest pocket keep a lockdown hold on your valuables.

What Shoppers Are Saying

Zappos doesn’t have reviews for the Proton, but over at Arc’teryx, it has collected a ton of positive feedback from shoppers. Reviewers called it “solid, durable, and warm” and loved its amazing versatility, saying it “can be used in so many different ways.”

Shoppers said it felt great whether worn on its own or as a midlayer under another jacket. Many Arc’teryx power users compared it to the Atom, another popular insulated layer from the brand, and found the Proton is a serious step up. One called it “warmer than the Atom jacket,” and several shoppers said it fits better, too.

The Zappos Arc’teryx deals as a whole are selling out left and right, and this 30% discount on the Proton Hoody is sure to follow—nearly all the sizes in the Black colorway (at full price) are already gone. Snag yours ASAP before it’s fully out of stock.
