LEGO Makes Big Announcement About Super Mario Collab

Kidults, get ready to throw even more money at LEGO. If you're a Nintendo fan at least.

The LEGO Group made a pair of big announcements this week about its ongoing collaboration with the Nintendo gaming universe—revealing a new product fans can pre-order now, as well as teasing what's to come.

The biggest surprise came in an Instagram video shared to LEGO's account on Tuesday, in which the company appeared to confirm Super Mario minifigures—the little people who populate their builds—are on the way.

The teaser shows everyone's favorite plumber–in minifig form–emerging from one of the game's warp pipes. The text accompanying the video added, “New form unlocked! New sets coming in 2027.”

Fans were clearly thrilled, taking to the comments to share their excitement.

“THEY LISTENED,” exclaimed one. “I can’t believe it’s finally happening ????” wrote another happy builder, as others left comments like, “THIS IS LITERALLY ALL WE WANTED ????” and “THIS IS THE HAPPIEST DAY OF MY LIFE.”

The minifigure reveal came after an announcement earlier in the day about another Super Mario set as well. Already available for pre-order, LEGO announced the LEGO Mario Kart - Luigi & Mach 8 build, inspired by the Mario Kart video games.

Per a press release, the set is designed for builders 18 and up, and includes 2,234 pieces “that bring Luigi and the Mach 8 to fans in brick form.” His head, arms and hands are all posable, while the vehicle can be removed from its stand and rolled around.

The set is considered a companion piece to the LEGO Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart set released last year. LEGO also has a number of "interactive play" sets featuring characters including Mario, Yoshi and Princess Peach.
