Paul Walter Hauser Cast as WWE Legend Mick Foley in New TV Series

Let's hope Paul Walter Hauser has a high pain tolerance — because he's going to need it when stepping into the shoes of Mick Foley. The Emmy Award winner, known for the series Black Bird, as well as films I, Tonya (2017), Richard Jewell (2019), Inside Out 2 (2024), and Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025), confirmed he will portray the WWE Hall of Famer in a new interview with The Stunner.

“We can kind of break that news: I haven’t said it yet, but I’m attached to play Mick in a limited series,” Hauser said. “We haven’t gone out to market with it yet, but I’m attached. It’s happening.” No details were given about the show's name, plot, or network.

Hauser is also an occasional wrestler, and is currently signed with Major League Wrestling (MLW), although he has also appeared on All Elite Wrestling (AEW). In April 2025, he took home the PROGRESS Wrestling Proteus Title at PROGRESS Chapter 179: PROGRESS Las Vegas, after winning a five-way match.

What does the real Mick Foley think about this? Well, he's shared on social media that he's very happy about a Hollywood adaptation featuring a story about his life, excitedly sharing the news on Instagram on February 21. However, the story he talks about is a movie, said to be a "separate project" from the TV series.

“MOVIE DEAL FOR MICK? I’m very happy about my meeting with a top Hollywood exec about turning one of my stories into a movie,” Foley wrote on Instagram. “This is a separate project from the biopic that’s in the works—a unique story based on real-life experiences. I might even get to portray myself!…Have a nice day!”

So far, it seems the star, who is a four-time World Champion, hasn't given his thoughts on the TV series, but he certainly seems ecstatic at the prospect of getting to share his story. Let's hope Hauser has the chops to pull off the physical demands of all of The Hardcore Legend's multiple — and rather painful — personas.
