George Clooney Is Back in the Drinks Business—This Time With Non-Alcoholic Beer
George Clooney, Rande Gerber and Mike Meldman are now in the non-alcoholic beer business.
After selling their previous brand, Casamigos Tequila, to spirits conglomerate Diageo in 2017 in a deal worth up to a billion dollars, the friends and business partners just announced today their new venture: Crazy Mountain. “We love beer, we just don't always want the effects that come with it,” said Clooney in a prepared statement.
While it doesn’t contain alcohol, the NA beer’s flavor is reminiscent of an easy drinking lager. It’s a similar path that their fellow celebrity entrepreneur Charlie Sheen took with his new beer Wild AF Cold Gold.

There are two Crazy Mountain expressions, the Original and also Lime, which, of course, includes a bit of citrus. “We wanted to create a beer that lets you enjoy the moment, as well as the morning after,” said Gerber. “Something real, refreshing and crafted for the way we actually live today.”
According to lore, the name Casamigos (that translates as “house of friends”) came from what the three friends called their neighboring vacation homes in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
So where did Crazy Mountain come from? According to today’s statement: “Everyone has their version of Crazy Mountain, whether it's riding the biggest wave, climbing the highest mountain, the fight they show up for, or the dream they refuse to let go of.” This sentiment is echoed in the brand’s slogan of “Live Wide Open.”
The non-alcoholic category has exploded in the US over the last decade with established players like Heineken and Guinness as well as start ups like The Athletic producing these beverages.
Time will tell if Clooney, Gerber and Meldman will be able to recreate their previous magic with this brand.

The beer will be available in a few US markets with more to come over the next 12 months. It has 65 calories per 12 ounces.
