Champions League Soccer Knockout Matchups Confirmed
The Champions League draw has officially confirmed which teams will be facing each other in the upcoming knockout stages of the European tournament.
These matchups will decide which teams make it to the Champions League final in May, which is taking place in Budapest, Hungary.
Champions League 2026 Knockout Stage Matchups
The Round of 16 matchups will take place on March 10 and March 11, with the second leg following up a week later on March 17 and 18. This will be followed by the quarter finals in April, the semi finals in May, and the final on May 30.
Table leaders Arsenal have drawn Bayer Leverkusen, and the winner will face whoever reigns supreme in the matchup between Norway's Bodo/Glimt and Portugal's Sporting CP in the quarter finals.
Real Madrid have drawn Manchester City for the fifth consecutive year in the knockout stages. "We know each other well," joked Madrid's Director of Institutional Relations, Emilio Butragueño. He promises "one of the best games you can see anywhere in the world" (via ESPN). Madrid's Kylian Mbappé is currently the top goal-scorer of the season with 13 goals.
The winner of Real Madrid/Manchester City will face the winner of Atalanta vs. Bayern Munich, who are facing each other for the first time in the teams' history.
Paris Saint-German will face Chelsea FC in a repeat of the Club World Cup Finals last year, where Chelsea scored a dominant 3-0 victory. The winner of their matchup will advance into the quarter finals against the winner of Galatasaray vs. Liverpool.
Finally, Newcastle United have drawn FC Barcelona, while Atlético de Madrid have drawn Tottenham Hotspur. The two winners will advance to the quarter finals against each other.
