New Study Names No. 1 Spring Break Destination in America
Every year, millions of college students and young adults engage in the American tradition of traveling for spring break. While some choose to unwind and enjoy time off overseas, others opt to celebrate domestically.
Not surprisingly, warm weather locales are the most popular U.S. destinations for spring breakers. As for which place is the "best" option, that's up for debate, but one new study has attempted to put together a definitive set of rankings.
Social gaming website ACE.com has put together the top 20 American spring break destinations based on several factors, namely online search demand, safety, weather, nightlife and entertainment options and overall affordability.
After the data was tabulated, South Padre Island off the coast of Texas stood atop the list.
South Padre Island tops spring break rankings
Located off the southern coast of the Lone Star State, South Padre Island boasts 34 miles of beaches, along with a warm climate and various attractions and activities.
On this list, South Padre Island comes in at No. 1 because of its nightlife (421 bars per 10,000 people) and entertainment options (702 per 10,000 people). South Padre Island also has the highest search demand on the list with 5,400 searches.
Lastly, the spring break hot spot is also one of the most affordable destinations listed, with the average cost of beer checking in at $5.50 and the cost of nightly accommodations coming in at $183.97.
